True Religion

Man I have forgotten how much I love this place. The culture, the weather, the people, the churches, the singing, the price of movies, and even the food.  It's great to be back.
In James 1:27 it says "pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows."
I got a chance to experience this pure religion. As people have probably mentioned we got a chance to play with kids in need and orphans. In America there is not as much need and poverty. It felt true and pure and genuine to serve and play with the orphans. It was amazing to me that this genuine religion is more prevalent in these orphans, which I connected with so easily, than in the so many other things. I have truly found more true religion in the need of this country than the often religious one we live in.
Currently we are eating breakfast anxiously awaiting the kids. I know I am nervous being only a second time councelor with kids only 3 years younger than me, but I am sure that this week I have a purpose and if I serve with all my heart great things will happen both for me and the campers.

  1. Wow. How inspiring coming from someone so young. Thanks for one more post before I go to bed. I find that I am checking several times a day just to see what you guys are up to. I love it.

  2. Thank you for s.haring Nick. You obviously have much to share with these kids. You are wise beyond your years. God will use you in great ways and will definitely use you during your time in SA as a counselor.
