India the Beautiful

Camp, Day Two: Wow! India touches ALL of your senses.  The colors of all the plants, flowers, trees, clothing, buildings; the sound of birds chirping in the early AM;  the scent of jasmine and the incredible smells that escape the kitchen long before each meal is served;  the latter is exceeded only by the taste of the food itself....yummy...my diet will have to wait another week or two.

The biggest WOW is watching the kids connect with one another...camp is safe emotionally,  spiritually, physically,  and mentally. ..with that being the case,  the campers cut loose with unbridled enthusiasm for all kinds of fun and friendship.   Add in a couple of meaningful and practical Bible classes and all the campers start to build deeper relationships with God and each other.

The only sense I have not mentioned is touch. Well,  I had anticipated "wearing" a humid overcoat provided by Mother Nature. ..not so.  The sky has been mostly overcast with a pleasant breeze.  Since we are several thousand feet up, I think we will avoid the brutal heat and humidity that India is known for.

All  of the counselors,  campers, and other volunteers are safe and accounted for and learning how to serve the Lord by serving others.

Stay tuned. ..other bloggers to follow.
