Hey friends and family!
Julia Casazza checking in! What a crazy week it has been! We just reached the YWCA where we will be staying the next few nights! This past week I got placed as a counselor for girls team six. I had two co-counselors: Sheetal and Bindia. Here is the crazy part... I had EIGHTEEN GIRLS. Yeah :) but it was such a blast! The first day was a little scary. There were so many of them and to say that I was overwhelmed would be an understatement!
One group of girls that I was particularly nervous about was four girls that spoke almost no english. My initial response was to stay away, but the first full day of camp they asked me to talk with them. I decided to reach out to them as well! The four girls soon became, "my girls." They called me Julia Akka which means "big sister Julia". Even though we couldnt understand eachother half the time, their love was so evident. By the end of the week I was in tears because they had truly stolen my heart.
I will miss them...
Tomorrow we are meeting with the Chennai church. We have been told there will be about 800 people there. Its gonna be awesome.
Love you all! See you soon :)
